Bigbore 458 –
I am a bigbore fan and there’s nothing more fun than bigbore lever actions! I have taken a lot of game with marlin 45/70’s including bison and water buffalo with maximum smokeless handloads. I’ve always wanted a 45/90 but originals are very pricey. The marlin action is not long enough for the 45/90 and the Winchester 1886 is. The new Japanese 1886 Winchester lever guns are beautifully made and cycle smoothly plus they have a 1 in 20 twist barrel like the 45/70 and can handle heavy weight bullets well. The 45/90 has plenty of potential and I proved it on a 13 year old trophy bison in Montana this winter! Three shots into the boiler room faster than I can say it!
